Different folks; Different strokes

Each one of us learns differently. Some of us the ‘Audis’ learn better by listening; some of us the ‘Visuals’ learn better by watching; and some of us the ‘Kinos’ learn better by doing.

In a lecture-oriented class the Audis learn better, whereas the Visuals and Kinos get bored and withdraw mentally, which affects their learning.

To make teaching effective the teacher should incorporate multi-sensory methodology, involving the auditory, visual and kinesthetic senses.

Employing discussions, asking, students to read aloud, playing soft music etc. keeps the auditory students involved.

Pictures, graphs and using color pens keep the visual students involved.

Rotating, role playing and practical demonstrations keeps the kinesthetic students involved.

When teachers adopt multi-sensory methodology it reaches all the students in the class. It ensures better results and satisfies both the parents’ and management’s expectations. It is the best reward as well as motivation for the dedicated and hardworking teachers.
