Noise is one of the biggest stressors that kills people
silently. The louder the noise, the longer you are
exposed to it and the closer you are to it, the more
damaging it is.
World Health Organization considers noise the most
important occupational hazard. Continues WHO, “If the
cardio-vascular system is chronically subjected to a
high level decibel level, the heart beats faster and the
blood pressure rises; Gastric troubles appear and the
intestines become sluggish.”
Noise dilutes the quality of sleep. We all know that
lack of sleep reduces immunity to diseases and
accelerates the ageing process. In the sixteenth
century, England enacted a law, prohibiting husbands
from beating their wives after 10pm, to reduce the noise
nuisance!
Prefer silence and music to noise and sound. It improves
health and productivity and helps us live longer and
happier.
